This mod file removes the screen dimming/flickering effect whenever you pass by any source of light in-game. It removes the eye adaptation effect which is what causes the dimming of your screen.
If you replace your visualsettings with the one I provided then not only do you get rid of eye adaption to remove flickering, you also get brighter emergency lights!
The first screenshot shows me directly below a street light which normally would make my screen go darker when I drive by it and then go back to normal again, but with this mod, when you drive by any light like a streetlight or traffic light for example, it will not dim, therefore making the overall experience much more realistic and less annoying and gets rid of rockstar's eyesore.
V1.4 COMPLETELY REWORKED the mod. Changed the visualsettings file to my latest version which is guaranteed to work unlike the old one which is now made as a last resort file if the new updated one somehow doesn't work. The installation instructions for the new one are in the READVERYIMPORTANT txt file.
V1.3 ADDED secondary fix if the original solution does not work. This is found in the "How to install" txt file on the very bottom.
V1.2 CRUCIAL UPDATE!! Updated visualsettings.dat file as values were incorrect from the readme. Please download V1.2!
Requirements:
OpenIV
Installation Instructions:
1. Extract the zip once downloaded
2. Open OpenIV
3. Go to \update\update.rpf\common\data\
4. Press Edit mode at the top right
5. Select Copy to mods folder
6. Scroll down until you see visualsettings.dat
7. Right click on it and select save content/export and save that file to your desktop (if it doesn't work, create a new folder on your desktop and save the content to that folder. This is just to back up the old file in case anything goes wrong.
8. Drag and drop the file provided in the "USE THIS ONE" folder into openiv where visualsettings.dat is and you are done!

@ANONYMOUS141 If you mean GTA Online, then no I wouldn't recommend trying to use it because it would either not work or if it did work it may possibly get you banned for having "modified game files."
Thx for solving that problem!
@TheDman131 it is, you just need to install this outside of your mods folder. Make a backup before!
It doesn't work... this is especially evident when the taxy close with me in the nighttime, the screen is so flashing
The issue, I think comes from lighting. For example, when you have an ELS vehicle in stage 3 lighting, it is casting the colors/lights all over the place (within the defined parameters of the ELS.ini file) so it might be that new introduction of lighting is causing screen flickering which would be an Adaptation related thing but even after putting your visualsettings.dat file in it didn't fix it. What it did was cause light coronas to be majorly enlarged (it only effected certain color coronas) [SIDENOTE: I believe was not on your part but instead my own because I use the latest NVE that uses RESHADE so its probably due to the preset config]
I am still investigating the causes of why the screen flickers but I'm pretty sure it involves the fact GTAV is a 10 year old game and the default lighting engine isn't that good and does need improvement.
Overall though, Good job and thanks for putting this out to help players fix the issue! <3
Now this thing works good, but i get very intensive lights... i means, car headlights, street poles, lighting fixtures inside interiors/houses, the light is very intense anytime, anywhere. So, can i configure the visualsettings.dat file, to fix this? If yes, please explain me how can i do this.
@ModdingWithKelvin Yeah I always recommend using the ones that your graphics mod comes with. I also use NVE and I wanted to give the same solution that they give with flickering to other people without paying for it. Only problem is that it doesn't work correctly for everyone. My number one tip is to try to reinstall your graphics mod and see if that fixes it. If not, maybe try one of the other files I put into the zip. Make sure to backup your files!
@ALEXSYS Glad to hear it works! So with your lights being too bright, try this mod, it is great! https://www.gta5-mods.com/misc/new-corona-begone
If this doesn't work, try changing the value of this line in visualsettings.dat: car.headlights.global.HeadlightIntensityMult
and I think probably this might help as well to change the value of this line: misc.coronas.intensityScaleGlobal
Let me know if it works! PLEASE PLEASE BACK UP YOUR FILE!!!
@ALEXSYS Try lowering the value of this line here in visualsettings.dat:
car.taxi.intensity
change it from 1.00 to like 0.25
@flylikeabird Like the corona is too bright? If you want them dimmed more, lower this value car.headlights.fullbeam.CoronaIntensityMult
and if that doesn't work, try lowering this one as well
car.headlights.fullbeam.IntensityMult
@flylikeabird If you want coronas removed all together, I HIGHLY recommend this mod, it is great! https://www.gta5-mods.com/misc/new-corona-begone
@Arcanee Whatever you like is fine with me. I understand some people may like it but I personally didn't which is why I made this mod!
@prestonboyd Looks like the problem been not with misc.coronas.intensityScaleGlobal line, cause i just minimized misc.coronas.screenspaceExpansion, and misc.coronas.screenspaceExpansionWater lines, so now i like what i haves. But anyway i'm choose just a littlebit lower setting in the misc.coronas.intensityScaleGlobal line. Thanks for the answer, and for this mod👍
@ALEXSYS Good to know and no problem! Thanks for your review :)
@prestonboyd Of course🙂But listen, i want to install Redux Mod, so i think, that this settings will be changed after that, so can you help me to make a right settings with this mod? i means, i thinks, if i just replace the visualsettings.dat file to your file after installation Redux Mod, this may cause the game to look incorrect, so is there any chance of tweaking this file after installing redux to remove the eye adaption? Huge thanks👍😊
What visual mod are u using?
@Somethin_Nice In this I used VisualV
@ALEXSYS Yes, the settings can be tweaked manually with your redux visual settings file.
@prestonboyd That's good😀But I definitely don't know what the lines i need to change🤔
is there a way to completely disable adaptation and dimming?
